What is ShareX?
ShareX is for people who take a lot of screenshots and want to do more with them than paste them. It combines capture, editing, uploading and small utilities in one desktop app, with no account and no adverts. It runs on Windows only, so it suits teams whose staff work on Windows PCs.
ShareX is a screenshot, screen recording and file sharing tool for Windows only. It captures regions, windows, full screens or scrolling pages, records video or GIFs, and includes an image editor for annotation and redaction. After each capture it can copy, save or upload the result to many destinations and run follow-up tasks such as OCR or URL shortening.

Capture and annotate
ShareX can capture the full screen, the active window or monitor, a selected or custom region, a scrolling page, or the last region again. It also records the screen as video or as an animated GIF, and has an auto capture mode. The image editor adds shapes, arrows, text, speech balloons, step numbers, highlights and magnification. Blur, pixelate and a smart eraser help remove sensitive details before sharing.

Workflows, uploads and extra tools
Each hotkey can run a chain of after-capture and after-upload tasks, such as save, copy, upload, shorten the URL or show a QR code. Files, text, clipboard content and URLs can be uploaded to many built-in destinations, and custom uploaders cover services that are not built in. ShareX also includes utilities such as OCR, a QR code reader, a colour picker, a ruler, pin to screen, an image combiner and a hash checker. Version 21 added a background remover and an image comparer.

Install it on Windows under GPL-3.0
ShareX is a Windows desktop application and does not run on macOS or Linux. Current versions are 64-bit builds and need Windows 10 or later. You can install the setup version or a portable version from the official website or GitHub releases, or get it from the Microsoft Store or Steam. ShareX is free, needs no account and shows no adverts. It is released under the GPL-3.0 licence.

Annotate a screenshot for a bug report
Press the region capture hotkey and select the part of the screen you need. Mark it up with arrows, rectangles, text and step numbers, and hide private details with blur or pixelate. Set the after-capture task to copy the image to the clipboard so it is ready to paste into a ticket.

Share a screenshot link with one keystroke
Choose an upload destination, or follow the guides for Amazon S3, Google Cloud Storage or Cloudflare R2 to use storage your company controls. Set after-upload tasks to shorten the URL and copy it to the clipboard. One hotkey then captures, uploads and leaves a link ready to paste.

Record a short clip or GIF of a problem
Use screen recording or GIF recording to capture a short sequence of steps on screen. Trim the result with the built-in video trimmer or animated GIF trimmer. Save it locally or upload it like any other capture.
