What is Linkwarden?
Linkwarden keeps the web pages you rely on, even when the original site changes or goes away. Each bookmark is stored as a screenshot, a PDF and a full HTML copy. Teams can collect and annotate links in shared collections with their own permissions.
Linkwarden is a self-hosted, collaborative bookmark manager. For each saved link it captures a screenshot, a PDF and a single HTML file, so the page stays readable if the original goes offline. It adds a reader view with highlights and notes, collections with member permissions, full text search and optional AI tagging.
Core capabilities
- Saves a screenshot, PDF and single HTML copy of every page you bookmark.
- Reader view lets you highlight text and add notes to saved articles.
- Shared collections with per-member permissions for team research.
Bookmarks that do not break
Linkwarden automatically saves a screenshot, a PDF and a single HTML file for each webpage. Sending a snapshot to the Wayback Machine at archive.org is an optional extra. You can also upload images and PDFs, and import pages captured with SingleFile. RSS feed subscriptions bring new links in automatically.

Collections, reading and search
Links are organised by collection, sub-collection, name, description and tags. Collections can have several members, and the permissions of each member can be set separately. A reader view supports highlights and notes. Full text search, filtering, bulk actions and API keys help with larger libraries, and native iOS and Android apps are available.

Run it yourself under AGPL-3.0
The recommended install uses Docker Compose with Linkwarden, PostgreSQL and Meilisearch. You set NEXTAUTH_URL, NEXTAUTH_SECRET, MEILI_MASTER_KEY and POSTGRES_PASSWORD in a .env file and open the app on port 3000. The docs suggest about 4 GB of memory and 2 CPU cores, and a manual install needs Node.js 20, PostgreSQL 16 and Monolith. SSO is available to self-hosted users, and Linkwarden is released under the AGPL-3.0 licence. Linkwarden Cloud is a separate paid hosted service.

Where it fits
Use cases
- 01
Keep a lasting copy of research sources
Save links through the browser extension, the iOS or Android app, or the iOS Shortcut. Linkwarden captures a screenshot, a PDF and a single HTML file of each page, and can also send it to the Wayback Machine. Pages saved with SingleFile can be uploaded directly.
- 02
Collect links together as a team
Create a collection, add sub-collections for each topic and invite colleagues as members. Set each member's permissions so some can add links and others can only read. Collections and their preserved copies can also be shared publicly.
- 03
Read and annotate saved articles
Open a saved link in reader view, highlight key passages and add your own notes. Organise links with names, descriptions and multiple tags, or let optional AI tagging suggest tags from the content. Full text search, filters and sorting bring material back later.
