What is Gitea?
Gitea aims to be the easiest way to run a complete software development service yourself. A single Go binary or container provides repositories, reviews, issues, packages and CI, light enough for a small server.
Gitea is a lightweight, self-hosted software development service written in Go. It bundles Git hosting, code review, issue tracking, project boards, a wiki, a package registry and CI/CD that can reuse GitHub Actions, and runs on Linux, macOS, Windows and BSD across many CPU architectures.
Core capabilities
- Host Git repositories with pull requests, code review and issue tracking.
- Run CI/CD with Gitea Actions, which can reuse existing GitHub Actions workflows.
- Publish packages, plan work on kanban boards and document projects in a wiki.
An all-in-one development service
Git hosting, code management and review, issue tracking, project kanban boards, a wiki, team collaboration and a package registry come in one application. CI/CD can reuse GitHub Actions workflows.

Runs almost anywhere
Because Gitea is written in Go, it runs on Linux, macOS, FreeBSD, OpenBSD and Windows on x86, amd64, ARM, RISC-V 64 and PowerPC. It can be deployed from the official container image, tried on demo.gitea.com, or run as a managed instance on Gitea Cloud.

Where it fits
Use cases
- 01
Host client code on your own server
Give each client project its own repositories, permissions and issue tracker on infrastructure you control.
- 02
Move CI off a hosted platform
Run Gitea Actions on your own runners and reuse existing GitHub Actions workflows instead of rewriting pipelines.
- 03
Publish internal packages
Use the built-in package registry to share libraries and container images between your team's projects.
