What is Formbricks?

Formbricks lets a team ask customers and users for feedback without sending that data to a third-party survey service. You build a survey once and share it as a link, embed it in an email or show it at the right moment on your website or in your app. Because you can run it on your own server, the responses stay in your own database.

Formbricks is an open-source survey platform for collecting feedback from users and customers. Teams build surveys in a no-code editor with templates, many question types and conditional logic, then share them as links, embed them in emails or show them on a website or inside a web or mobile app. Responses can be sent onward through webhooks and integrations such as Slack, Notion and Zapier.

Core capabilities

  • Link, email, website and in-app surveys built in one no-code editor.
  • Conditional logic, hidden fields, variables and multi-language surveys.
  • Webhooks, an API and integrations with Slack, Notion, Google Sheets, Zapier and n8n.

Link, website and in-app surveys

Formbricks has two main survey types. Link surveys get a shareable URL and can use single-use links, PIN protection, hidden fields and prefilled answers, and they can be embedded in a web page or an email. Website & App surveys run through the Formbricks SDK and appear when an action happens, such as a page view or an event your code sends. Recontact options and a workspace cooldown period limit how often one person sees a survey.

Survey editor, logic and integrations

The no-code editor includes templates, many question types, custom styling and multi-language surveys. Conditional logic is attached to each block of questions: a rule can test an answer, a variable or a hidden field, then jump to another block, make a question required or calculate a value. Responses can be sent onward with webhooks, through the API, or through integrations such as Slack, Notion, Google Sheets, Airtable, Zapier and n8n.

Self-host the AGPL-3.0 core

The Formbricks core is licensed under AGPL-3.0 and can be self-hosted with Docker Compose, with a one-click script for Ubuntu servers that sets up Traefik and Let's Encrypt certificates, or with a Helm chart on Kubernetes. The stack is more than one container: it runs the app alongside PostgreSQL, Redis or Valkey, SpiceDB, Formbricks Hub and Cube. The free Community Edition covers one workspace with unlimited surveys, responses and users, including commercial use. Code in the apps/web/modules/ee folder is under a separate paid Enterprise licence, which unlocks features such as teams and access roles, contact segments, SSO and removing Formbricks branding.

Where it fits

Use cases

  1. 01

Send a feedback survey as a shareable link

Click New Survey, pick a template such as Product Market Fit and edit the questions in the survey editor. In the Settings tab set Survey Type to Link Survey, then use Response Options to close the survey on a date, cap the number of responses or protect it with a PIN. Activate it and answers appear on the Summary page.

  2. 02

Ask people for feedback inside your product

Open Settings, then Web & Mobile SDK, and add the snippet for HTML, React, Next.js, Vue, React Native, Swift, Android or Flutter to your site or app. Create a Website & App Survey and add a trigger action, such as a page view or a code action sent from your app. Recontact options and a cooldown period stop the same person being asked too often.

  3. 03

Send answers to the tools your team uses

Connect Slack, Notion, Google Sheets or Airtable from the Integrations page, or link Zapier or n8n with a Formbricks API key. On a self-hosted instance you register the OAuth app for Slack, Notion, Google Sheets or Airtable yourself and add its credentials as environment variables. Webhooks can also post each new, updated or finished response to your own endpoint.
