What is ERPNext?
ERPNext brings the everyday systems of a business into one open-source application. Instead of paying for separate tools for invoices, stock, staff and projects, a company keeps them in one database where each module can use the others' data.
ERPNext is an open-source ERP system for running a business in one place. It covers accounting, order and inventory management, manufacturing, assets and projects, and is built on the Frappe Framework. It can be self-hosted with Docker or run on the managed Frappe Cloud.
Core capabilities
- Keep the books, from recording transactions to financial reports, in the same system as operations.
- Track stock, suppliers, sales orders and fulfilment without a separate inventory tool.
- Add manufacturing, asset management and project tracking as the business grows.
Accounting and order management together
The accounting tools cover cash flow from recording transactions to summarising and analysing financial reports. Order management tracks inventory, replenishment, sales orders, customers, suppliers, shipments and fulfilment, so financial and operational records stay connected.

Modules for manufacturing, assets and projects
Manufacturing support covers material consumption, capacity planning and subcontracting. Asset management follows equipment from purchase to disposal, and project tracking records tasks, timesheets and issues against budgets and profitability.

Built on the Frappe Framework
ERPNext runs on the Frappe Framework, a full-stack Python and JavaScript framework, with a Vue-based interface library. It can be self-hosted with the Frappe Docker setup or run on Frappe Cloud, a managed platform for Frappe applications.

Where it fits
Use cases
- 01
Replace separate accounting and inventory tools
Record sales, purchases and payments in the accounting module while the same orders update stock levels, so the books and the warehouse never disagree.
- 02
Manage suppliers and replenish stock
Track inventory levels, raise purchase orders when stock runs low, and follow shipments from suppliers through to customer fulfilment.
- 03
Track projects against budget
Plan internal or client projects with tasks, timesheets and issues, and see whether each one is on time, on budget and profitable.
